Owned by the Zegna Group, Tom Ford Fashion is accelerating its expansion across the U.S. The beginning of October marks the opening of three new stores, in San Diego and Costa Mesa, California, as well as Bal Harbour, Florida, bringing the brand’s store network to 16 locations in the U.S. and 70 worldwide. The strategy comes as Zegna’s sales in the Americas rose 22% in the second quarter of 2026.

Valued at nearly $3 billion, the Tom Ford brand is now divided into three distinct entities, each backed by a different group: Estée Lauder acquired the brand’s intellectual property in 2022; Zegna has operated its fashion business through Tom Ford Fashion since 2023; and Marcolin distributes Tom Ford eyewear under a licensing agreement.

The Strategy Behind Zegna’s Acquisition of Tom Ford
The house founded by Ermenegildo Zegna has successfully evolved from a company known for high-end tailoring into a group combining a multi-brand platform, technical apparel expertise and a manufacturing infrastructure. This industrial foundation in textiles paved the way for the acquisition of Thom Browne in 2018, followed by the purchase of the remaining stake in Tom Ford Fashion in 2023, after Zegna had acquired an initial 15% stake in Tom Ford International in 2016.
The designer now overseeing the collections is Haider Ackermann, the French-Colombian fashion designer. Tom Ford himself no longer has an operational role. The designer sold his entire company and the brand’s intellectual property to The Estée Lauder Companies in 2022 for $2.8 billion.
Zegna, which signed a 20-year licensing agreement with Estée Lauder as part of the deal, brings its manufacturing and distribution expertise to the business. Tom Ford, meanwhile, already benefits from an established customer base, strong global brand recognition across both menswear and womenswear, and a clearly defined aesthetic universe.
In the second quarter of 2026, Tom Ford Fashion generated €156.8 million in revenue, representing reported growth of 2.7%. This accounted for around 16% of Zegna Group’s €517 million in revenue, driven primarily by sales in the Americas.
Three New Stores in Strategic Locations
The Italian group plans to open between 14 and 15 new Zegna, Thom Browne and Tom Ford stores across the Americas in 2026, according to Reuters. For Tom Ford Fashion, this acceleration in the U.S. follows a 22% increase in Zegna’s sales in the Americas, as demand in Europe slows and the Chinese market remains uncertain.
The first of the three new stores is located in Costa Mesa, at South Coast Plaza, a California shopping center known as one of the major luxury retail destinations in the United States. The store opened to American customers on September 30, 2026.
In California, another new location is planned in San Diego, highlighting the city’s growing status as a regional wealth hub, alongside destinations such as New York, Beverly Hills and Miami.
The third opening, in Bal Harbour, Florida, will further strengthen Tom Ford’s presence among an international and ultra-high-net-worth clientele, this time on the U.S. East Coast.
Offering both menswear and womenswear, each store will feature the brand’s full range of categories, from ready-to-wear and leather goods to fragrances, beauty products, eyewear and underwear. Made-to-measure services will also be available, allowing clients to build a personalized wardrobe.
This high-end positioning is reflected in the prices of selected pieces from Tom Ford’s SS26 collection, with some garments priced above $10,000, while certain leather creations can reach $18,000.

Paris Fashion Week kicked off this Monday. For a young fashion label, staging a runway show can cost tens of thousands of euros, while the biggest luxury houses can spend several million euros on just a few minutes of spectacle.
