Tom Cruise and Vacheron Constantin: a Race Against Time

In the teaser for the film Digger, due for release in October 2026, actor Tom Cruise appears wearing a Vacheron Constantin Overseas Dual Time, confirming yet another collaboration between the world of fine watchmaking and the silver screen.

Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, the film follows ‘the most powerful man in the world’ as he embarks on a race against time to save humanity from a catastrophe of his own making.

The Mexican director and screenwriter ventures into the realm of satirical black comedy, with an unrecognisable Tom Cruise in the lead role as an all-powerful oil tycoon named Digger Rockwell. “Digger is charming,” said Iñárritu in an introduction shown during the press screening of the trailer in Los Angeles. “He’s funny. You can’t help but watch him. Like all the most dangerous people, he makes you want to agree with him.”

A Complication Designed for Men Without Borders

Its second time zone display makes it the ideal companion for this international businessman, whilst its association with one of the oldest watch manufacturers still in operation immediately enhances the stature of the character portrayed by Tom Cruise. A sporty travel watch, certainly, but elevated to the status of an object of desire: the watch for the man who does not merely follow time, but masters it, wherever he may be in the world.

Vacheron Constantin is no stranger to the world of cinema. Several of the brand’s watches have been spotted on the wrists of stars, but the first documented appearance dates back to 2006, in the film Miami Vice, when Colin Farrell, playing Sonny Crockett, wore a platinum Vacheron Constantin Malte Chronograph Perpetual Calendar.

The fact that an Overseas has become a defining feature of a leading Hollywood character in the film Digger further reinforces the brand’s prestigious status.
