The Accor group has announced the appointment of Omer Acar as General Manager of the Raffles & Orient Express entities. Several recent acquisitions have strengthened the group's position as the world's leading hotel group with over 5,300 hotels worldwide.

A Grade II* listed landmark steeped in history, the Old War Office’s transformative journey will be reborn as The OWO Residences by Raffles (1508 London)

The appointment of Omer Acar as CEO of Raffles & Orient Express will be effective from March 2023. In order to strengthen the group's position in the United States, the new director will be based in New York. Having held several prestigious positions within Four Seasons, Omer Acar has also headed the Ritz in Paris and the Royal Monceau.

This appointment will certainly not be the only one within the Accor group, as the hotel giant's ambitions for months have been to strengthen its luxury hotel division through a series of new acquisitions.

At the end of last spring, the group concluded the acquisition of Mantra Group for 830 million euros, thus becoming the sole shareholder of this boutique hotel group located mainly in Australia and New Zealand. In 2022, Katara Hospitality, a major player in the hotel industry in Qatar and internationally, announced the signing of an operating partnership with the Accor group for the opening of the future Parisian hotel Maison Delano, destined to become the flagship hotel of the American group absorbed by the French giant.

In addition to Delano, Accor had already entered into a joint venture with the Ennismore group in October 2021 to strengthen its position in the lifestyle hotel sector. Owned by Accor and Ennismore founder Sharan Pasricha, the new entity now brings together a unique portfolio of bohemian-chic brands such as Mama Shelter, Tribe, The Hoxton, Jo&Joe, Mondrian and Hyde.

The appointment of Omer Acar as head of Raffles & Orient Express is particularly strategic today, as Accor is investing heavily in the development of luxury trains: in 2024, the inauguration of the Orient Express La Dolce Vita has been announced, and reservations have just opened. This palace on rails, conceived in collaboration with Trenitalia and designed by the prestigious Dimorestudio studio, will offer different itineraries to discover the wonders of Italy and will precede by one year the inauguration of the Nostalgie Istanbul Orient Express which, from 2025, will offer the mythical itinerary to the gates of Asia.
