On Monday, October 5, during “James Bond Day,” Swiss watchmaker Omega unveiled the trailer for the upcoming video game, 007 First Light, scheduled for release on March 27, 2026. It's a dive into the heart of Bond's story, highlighting an Omega watch.

This action-adventure game presents the original story of a young James Bond, whose missions will be linked to an Omega watch (Omega)

Omega has been involved in the James Bond universe since 1995. In Casino Royale in 2006, Daniel Craig can be seen wearing a Seamaster Diver 300M Co-Axial and a Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial, a model worn again by the actor in 2008 in Quantum of Solace, then in Skyfall in 2012. In Spectre 007 in 2015, the actor wore two others, and in 2021, in No Time to Die, Agent 007 once again sports a Seamaster Diver 300M on his wrist.

Today, this action-adventure game presents the original story of a young James Bond, whose missions will be linked to an Omega watch. Called 007 First Light, developed by IO Interactive in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, it will give players the opportunity to wear the watch designed for the game and use it when they earn Bond's 007 status. This is a strategic way for the brand to remind people of its connection to the most famous spy and reach a younger generation.

With James Bond now under the umbrella of Amazon MGM, much to the chagrin of some fans of the saga, speculation is rife about the identity of the next actor to play the hero. While names such as Tom Holland and Harris Dickinson have been circulating, 28-year-old Australian actor Jacob Elordi is said to be one of the studio's favorite candidates. But for now, casting for the next James Bond film is not scheduled until 2026, and no successor to Daniel Craig has been announced. According to some press reports, director Denis Villeneuve is waiting until the end of filming for his movie Dune 3 to start looking for the next star, which is not expected to shoot until 2027, with a theatrical release planned for 2028.

There has been much criticism since Amazon took over production in February, after decades of management by the Broccoli family. Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, longtime Bond producers and half-brother and half-sister, have stepped down from production but remain co-owners of the franchise with Amazon MGM. The American online retail giant bought Hollywood studio MGM in 2022 for $8.45 billion, including the James Bond catalog.

Doubts about Amazon MGM's intentions persisted recently when promotional posters for the saga since its creation 60 years ago were unveiled yesterday on James Bond Day. The artistic direction's decision to remove the iconic weapon from Agent 007's hands and standardize the images sparked a wave of criticism from Bond fans, who felt it strayed too far from the spy film's DNA, prompting Amazon Prime Video to quietly remove the posters. This did little to calm fans' concerns.
