On Monday morning, LVMH-owned fashion house Dior officially confirmed the appointment of British designer Jonathan Anderson as creative director of women's ready-to-wear collections and, for the first time in his career, haute couture.

Founder of his own brand, JW Anderson, in 2008, then artistic director of Loewe for eleven years, the fashion prodigy has become one of the most influential designers on the international fashion scene (Loewe)

The Maria Grazia Chiuri era at Dior has come to an end, following the announcement of the Italian designer's departure last Thursday. On Monday, June 2, the news was confirmed in a press release, confirming the rumors: Jonathan Anderson is taking the reins of the women's ready-to-wear and haute couture collections. Already in charge of the men's collections since last spring, he becomes the first man since Christian Dior himself to oversee all of the house's lines.

“Jonathan Anderson is one of the greatest creative talents of his generation. His incomparable artistic signature will be a crucial asset in writing the next chapter of the history of the House of Dior,” said Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, in an Instagram statement.

He added: "It is a great honour for me to join the House of Dior as Creative Director of both women's and men's collections. I have always been inspired by the rich history of this house, its depth, and empathy. I look forward to working alongside ist legendary ateliers to craft the next chapter of this incredible story. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Delphine Arnault and Bernard Arnault for their trust and loyalty over the years." He will present his first men's collection during Men's Fashion Week on June 27 in Paris.

Led by Delphine Arnault since February 2023, Dior is the family's favorite brand and the second most powerful within the group, behind Louis Vuitton. In the first quarter of 2025, the fashion and leather goods division recorded sales of €10.1 billion, down slightly by 5% compared to the same period last year.

At a time when luxury fashion must reinvent itself without betraying its heritage, Dior is betting on a designer who is young, innovative, and deeply connected to his era. A promising new era is dawning for the house.
