Jewelry & Gem WORLD Hong Kong has closed its 2026 edition with a post-pandemic attendance record. With 57,632 buyers from 149 countries and regions, the event confirms the return of international markets while already offering several clues as to the choices that could shape the jewelry industry in 2027.
From September 14 to 20, 2026, nearly 3,000 exhibitors from 46 countries and regions gathered in Hong Kong. With 57,632 professional buyers, up 4.5% year over year, JGW recorded its highest attendance since the pandemic.
The signal is all the more significant because the growth is not driven by China alone. The number of buyers from North America rose by 24.2%, while European attendance increased by 13.4% and that from Central Asia by 42.2%. Mainland China, meanwhile, recorded a 4.5% increase.
This geographical diversification confirms Hong Kong’s role as an international sourcing hub and offers an early glimpse into the dynamics that could shape the market in 2027.

More Targeted Purchasing
On the show's floor, industry professionals also appeared to be adopting a more selective approach. According to the organizers, Chinese buyers in particular arrived with more clearly defined purchasing intentions, focusing on targeted sourcing.
Colored gemstones, diamonds and pearls remain at the heart of buyers’ searches. High-quality rubies are benefiting from particularly strong demand amid limited supply. Lab-grown diamonds are also continuing to gain ground in a market now structured around multiple gemstone categories and different price points.
Another trend likely to influence 2027 is the integration of artificial intelligence and new technologies into jewelry design and production. In Hong Kong, some manufacturers presented collections developed from AI-generated references, while solutions aimed at improving manufacturing efficiency attracted strong interest from industry professionals.
With precious metal costs remaining high and consumers paying closer attention to value, technology is also becoming an economic lever.
A Global Barometer for 2027
JGW cannot, on its own, predict the year ahead. But its attendance record, the return of Western buyers and the diversification of participating markets provide valuable indicators.
In Hong Kong, industry professionals were therefore not simply preparing for the year-end season. They were already selecting the gemstones, products and technologies that could shape the jewelry landscape in 2027.
