Guive Balooch, Head of Innovation at L’Oréal: “Technology doesn’t replace humans, it complements them”
By Justine Offredi11 juin 2025
Each year at VivaTech, L’Oréal, the cosmetics giant and beauty tech pioneer, takes advantage of the major Parisian event to showcase its latest innovations to the public. In an interview with Luxury Tribune, Guive Balooch details the group’s technological ambition: to create smarter beauty.
After making a strong impression at CES in Las Vegas earlier this year, L’Oréal is making a powerful return to VivaTech, which opens this Wednesday, June 11, in Paris. At its booth, the global beauty leader is unveiling its latest advancements in the field of longevity science—a discipline that explores the links between the body’s biological mechanisms and the visible aging of the skin. Two major innovations are being exclusively presented: Cell BioPrint, an ultra-fast skin diagnostic device to be rolled out in Lancôme stores from March 2026; and Nano Resurfacer, an at-home skincare device inspired by professional microneedling, set to launch in September.
At the forefront of this futuristic vision is Guive Balooch, Global Head of Augmented Beauty at L’Oréal’s Research & Innovation division, a role he has held for thirteen years. As ultra-personalization becomes the norm, he advocates for a beauty approach driven by biological data—merging science, AI, and cutting-edge technologies to deliver ever more targeted, effective, and now predictive skincare solutions.

Guive Balooch: Cell BioPrint marks our very first step into the field of biological diagnostics. The device performs a skin diagnostic in under five minutes, allowing us to reveal what’s happening beneath the surface and uncover long-hidden mysteries. Today, everyone wants to know their biological age and understand how their skin cells are aging to better anticipate the future. Thanks to this technology, the result of ten years of research, we can now not only tell you your biological age but also predict how your skin will evolve. We can detect current fine lines and wrinkles, but more importantly, foresee what your biology holds, so you can take a proactive rather than reactive approach to skincare.
