While the major climate issues of COP 30 are currently being discussed in Belém, Brazil, those relating to fashion and textiles are also a priority. And this season, the Portuguese footwear appeared at major international fashion weeks, signalling a clear internationalisation strategy to position itself as a global leader in design, craftsmanship and sustainable innovation. Spearheaded by APICCAPS, the national footwear association, this presence included collaborations with designers such as Theophilio and Libertine in New York, Bianca Saunders and Willy Chavarria in Paris, and a partnership with the London College of Fashion to launch the first Portuguese Footwear Award.
