The commercial success of the Ferrari Luce—whose design drew criticism and mixed reactions during its official unveiling in May 2026—sends an encouraging signal to the luxury automotive industry as it navigates the shift to electric vehicles.

For Ferrari, the initial results from the Luce’s launch are crucial. The first electric Ferrari will be available for customer test drives in 2027 (Ferrari)
The announcement was made on November 3, 2026, during the release of the company’s third-quarter results. “Everything we plan to sell next year has already been allocated,” said Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna, though he did not disclose the specific volumes involved.
The first deliveries are scheduled by the end of the year, while customer test drives, planned for early 2027, could further boost demand. The legendary Italian automaker’s first foray into electric vehicles thus appears to be well underway.
Another event had already helped reignite interest in the model. In August 2026, the Luce’s chassis number 0 was sold for $40 million at an RM Sotheby’s auction held during Monterey Car Week.
This was a record amount for an electric car and for a new Ferrari. All proceeds from the sale were donated to the Ferrari Foundation, which funds educational projects and programs for young people. While this exceptional transaction was also a charitable and image-building effort, it marked a turnaround following the initial criticism the model had faced.

An Order Book Already Full, Despite the Criticism

For Ferrari, the initial results from the Luce’s launch are crucial. Like other luxury car manufacturers, the Italian automaker faces an identity challenge: demonstrating that the emotion and exclusivity associated with the Prancing Horse can endure beyond the internal combustion engine.
This announcement comes amid a particularly favorable financial climate. In the first nine months of 2026, Ferrari posted revenue of 5.68 billion euros, up 6% compared to the same period the previous year. Its net profit reached 1.31 billion euros, up 7% from the 1.22 billion recorded in 2025.

A Gradual Transition to Electric Vehicles by 2030

In the third quarter, revenue totaled 1.90 billion euros, representing a 7% increase. Deliveries, however, declined by 3% over the first nine months, totaling 10,170 vehicles. This trend suggests that growth is driven in particular by a mix of higher-priced models and the success of the customization offerings, which have become a true strategic pillar for the Prancing Horse brand.
By 2030, the automaker now expects its lineup to consist of 40% internal-combustion models, 40% hybrids, and 20% fully electric vehicles. This breakdown reflects Ferrari’s commitment to a gradual transition to electric vehicles, rather than an abrupt shift.uit la volonté de Ferrari de mener une transition progressive vers l’électrique, plutôt que d’opérer une rupture brutale.

Key Points:
- Ferrari reports that it has already allocated all the cars it plans to sell next year, though it did not disclose the specific volumes.
- Chassis No. 0 of the Luce fetched a record $40 million at an RM Sotheby’s auction, with the proceeds donated to the Ferrari Foundation.
- In the first nine months of 2026, Ferrari’s revenue rose 6% to 5.68 billion euros, while deliveries fell 3%.
