On the 26th of September, Estée Lauder Companies and Balmain announced their entering into a license agreement to “collaboratively develop, produce, and distribute an innovative line of beauty products that will speak to luxury consumers around the world”. The beauty line, Balmain Beauty, is expected to launch in the Fall of 2024.

Today and since 2011, the Fashion house, founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain, is led by its creative director Olivier Rousteing. His choice to partner with Estée Lauder Companies is no coincidence, as both have been working together for over ten years to push the boundaries of the fashion industry. “We’ve been determined to reflect the way that today’s diverse generation wishes to live and dress. So, obviously, there was no way that we were going to expand into beauty without ensuring that we had found the partner who understood and shared our outlook”, notes Olivier Rousteing.

This is not the only collaboration by Balmain which has marked the media recently. Only last week, the brand revealed its surprise for the upcoming Paris Fashion week: a unique haute couture dress made from waste Evian plastic bottles.

The Balmain Beauty statement came out with another press release, promoting Guillaume Jesel to President, Global Brands, Tom Ford Beauty, Balmain Beauty and Luxury Business Development. Guillaume Jesel will be working hand in hand with Balmain’s leadership, in order to translate the brand’s creative vision. “Guillaume is one of the most creative and passionate executives that I have seen in the industry today and I know he will help build Balmain Beauty into a global beauty brand for all”, added Olivier Rousteing.

Only a couple of weeks ago, The Estée Lauder Companies announced their organizational evolution across the brand’s portfolio leadership. Indeed, the company’s brand portfolio evolved into two brand clusters led by Jane Hertzmark Hudis, Executive Group President, and Stéphane de La Faverie, who has been promoted to Executive Group President, with the goal to strategically position the company for long-term, sustainable growth in a fast-paced evolving global landscape. These internal changes follow the report of significant growth within the luxury beauty group, with net sales of 17.71 billion dollars, a 9% increase compared to 2021.
