The rise of virtual cities

With the metaverse becoming increasingly important in our society, it comes as no surprise that the first architects are starting to develop virtual cities within this parallel universe. An example is by the British architecture studio Zaha Hadid Architects, which has developed a “cyber-urban” town named Liberland metaverse, based on the Free Republic of Liberland, a micronation claimed by Czech politician Vít Jedlička that straddles disputed land between Croatia and Serbia. In this virtual city, people can buy plots of land with cryptocurrency and enter digital buildings as an avatar.
