The Dance of the Monks

Paro Tsechu is one of the most popular festivals in Bhutan. Cham dances performed by monks in colourful costumes are practised in honour of Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche. Legend has it that these dances, performed by Padmasambhava to invoke Buddha and heal King Trisong Detsen, contributed to the miracle of healing.
