A retreat on Ishigaki Island

The start-up hospitality brand “Not a Hotel” recently presented its newest location, situated on Okinawa’s Ishigaki Island. The construction by Sou Fujimoto Architects will represent a retreat from the world, the villa remaining isolated within a site preserving over two acres of nature. The hotel villa is designed as a low form with a grassy roof. Because of its circular footprint, the building has no front nor back and opens broadly toward its natural surroundings of forests and waters. Not a Hotel Ishigaki is scheduled to start selling May 2023.
