The Christmas lights in Medellín represent a traditional seasonal event in the city, where millions of lights are hung from early December to January. Since the 1990s, the starting point has been on La Playa Avenue and the main location of these Christmas decorations is on the Medellín River. The event has grown due to its increasing appeal to tourists, the expansion of the availability of energy resources and budgets, and the growing participation of local residents.
