2023. The Year of the Rabbit
The night from 21 to 22 January 2023 will celebrate China’s most important festival, the Lunar New Year, also called Spring Festival. It marks the transition of the Chinese zodiac sign from one animal to the next, and 2023 welcomes the Year of the Rabbit, predicted to be a period of hope. Indeed, in Chinese culture, the Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace and prosperity, and people born during this Year are believed to be vigilant and quick-minded. The celebrations traditionally last for 16 days, from Lunar New Year’s Eve to the Lantern Festival. Over 2 billion people celebrate the Lunar New Year, with many countries having public holidays during these celebrations, including China, the Philippines, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei among others.
