Porsche has just announced its 2022 sales figures, with the premium car brand achieving record results that boosted confidence and prospects for the current year. The luxury automaker posted 37.6 billion euros in sales in 2022, an increase of almost 14% over the previous year. The records also include net profits with 6.8 billion euros, an increase of more than 25% compared to last year.

In a press release, the head Oliver Blume announced that "Porsche has achieved by far the best result in the company's history". This was possible despite difficult circumstances and the frail international markets due to the pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine. And despite the trade paralysis that continues to affect some regions, the Chinese market remained one of the best performing markets for Porsche. Regarding the number of vehicles sold, the German company continues its momentum and announced that they delivered 309,884 cars in 2022, an increase of 2.6% over the previous year.

Since its IPO last September, the carmaker has been targeting even higher sales for 2023. Estimates are for more than 40 billion euros, with a profit margin that should remain stable this year. This margin could increase by a further 20% in the coming financial years, considering the consistent increase of 2% in operating profit margin each year (16% in 2021, 18% in 2022). It must be acknowledged that the IPO of the Stuttgart-based company was one of the major financial events of the past year. For Germany, it is the most important stock market entry since 1996. For Porsche, the operation has generated a little over 9 billion euros in gross value.

Today, the prestigious Volkswagen subsidiary is aiming for very ambitious goals: accelerating the process of automobile electrification (the electric Macan model is expected in 2024) and developing propulsion systems using synthetic fuel. Among the most popular models are the sporty Cayenne SUV (95,604 Cayenne sold), the Panamera (34,142 sales) and the 911 (40,410 registered models).
