Geneva Watch Days 2026: Geneva Becomes the World Capital of Watchmaking Once Again
By Jacqueline Chelliah26 août 2026
Geneva will once again become the beating heart of global watchmaking from September 2 to 6, 2026. For its seventh edition, Geneva Watch Days, or GWD, returns with an increasingly international and influential presence: 71 participating maisons, showrooms spread across five Geneva neighbourhoods, and a programme designed to bring brands, collectors, retailers, journalists and the general public together.
Created in 2020, at the height of the pandemic, when the cancellation of major watch fairs disrupted the industry calendar, Geneva Watch Days was born from the initiative of six founding maisons: Breitling, Bulgari, De Bethune, Girard Perregaux, H. Moser & Cie. and MB&F.

The concept was unprecedented at the time. Rather than bringing the entire industry together under one roof, Geneva itself became the exhibition venue. Six years later, this experiment has evolved into a major fixture of the international watchmaking calendar.
This year, the participants will include major names such as Bulgari, Breitling and Zenith, alongside highly creative independent maisons such as MB&F, De Bethune, Greubel Forsey, Laurent Ferrier, Ming, Urwerk and H. Moser & Cie.
Five Days, One City, Hundreds of Timepieces
At the heart of the event, the Rotonde du Mont Blanc will host the Main Pavilion and the Blue Box. Visitors will be able to discover new timepieces, attend presentations and demonstrations, take part in guided tours and watchmaking challenges, and meet the personalities shaping the industry.
The programme will also feature breakfasts with brand executives, round tables and workshops focusing in particular on the Swiss watchmaking ecosystem, market polarisation and the secondary market.
But GWD will not be confined to the main pavilion. The event will once again take over Geneva city centre through brand showrooms and numerous private gatherings. One of the highlights will be a charity auction organised with Phillips, supporting students at the Geneva Watchmaking School.
The Trends to Watch in 2026
This new edition is expected to confirm several major trends: the growing appeal of independent watchmaking, mechanical creativity and strong design identities, as well as increasing attention to value, younger generations and the relationship between the primary and secondary markets.
The industry is becoming increasingly polarised between exceptional timepieces aimed at wealthy collectors and brands seeking to attract a broader audience with more accessible price points.
In this environment, storytelling, originality and technical innovation have become essential tools for differentiation.
Geneva, the World Capital of Watchmaking in the Spotlight
GWD is now much more than a professional trade event. By bringing watchmaking into the heart of the city, from the shores of Lake Geneva to boutiques, hotels and private showrooms, the event contributes directly to Geneva’s economic and tourism appeal while further strengthening its position as the world capital of haute horlogerie.
For the industry, the event also offers a particularly contemporary model, providing a flexible platform where major maisons and independent watchmakers can come together under the Geneva sky and meet an international audience.
